Frequently Asked Questions
Below are answers to some of the most common questions I receive. If you don’t find the information you’re looking for, or if you have any additional inquiries, feel free to reach out via email at hello@giordanelliart.com. I’m always happy to help!
Commission Process
What is the turnaround time for a commission?
Turnaround times vary depending on the size and complexity of the artwork, but generally, I ask for 2-4 weeks to complete your piece. For larger or more detailed projects, it may take a little longer. I'll give you an estimated timeline when you inquire.
Do I need to send reference photos for my custom art?
Yes, reference photos are incredibly helpful in creating an accurate and meaningful piece. The more details you provide, the better I can capture your vision. If you’re not sure what to send, feel free to reach out, and I can guide you!
Can I request specific changes during the process?
Yes! Once I’ve completed a draft or initial sketch, I’ll send it to you for feedback. If you’d like revisions, I’ll make adjustments to ensure the final piece matches your vision. Please note that the pricing is agreed based on the initial request, so any significant changes will incur an additional fee.
Can you work with a tight deadline?
I’ll do my best to accommodate urgent requests, but it depends on my current schedule and the complexity of the piece. Please reach out early with your deadline, and I'll let you know if it's possible to meet it.
Do I have to pay upfront for commissions?
Yes, payment for commissions is required upfront to reserve your spot in my schedule. This helps ensure that we’re committed to the project and allows me to begin working on your illustration right away. Once payment is made, I’ll start working on your artwork and keep you updated on its progress!
Types of Custom Artwork
What is the difference between pre-set custom artwork options and commissions?
I offer two types of custom artwork:
- Pre-set Custom Artwork: These are specific styles or themes available in the shop (e.g., pet, family, or custom Chicago dog illustrations). After completing your order, click here to submit the required photos and any details (personality, quirks, colors, etc.). Your order won’t be processed until I receive the form with your photos and information.
- Commissions: These are fully custom pieces that are not available in the shop. To request a special commission, you need to fill out the commission request form, and I will provide you with a quote and further details before we proceed.
How to order a pre-set custom artwork?
To order pre-set custom art, simply purchase the item from my shop. Afterward, you’ll need to fill out the Custom Art Order Finalization Form to submit your reference photos and any details about the piece. I can’t begin until I receive the completed form.
Can I customize the background for pre-set custom artwork (e.g., pet or family illustrations)?
The price for pre-set custom artwork includes a solid background color. If you’d like a custom background (e.g., scenery or a specific theme), please reach out via the commission - special request form for a quote. This will allow me to provide you with a personalized estimate for the additional work.
Pricing & Customization
How is the price for a commission determined?
Prices for commissions are based on the time and effort required to create your artwork. The more intricate the design or the additional customizations (like a detailed background), the higher the cost. I’ll provide a quote before starting the work, so you know exactly what to expect.
Are there additional costs for customizing pre-set options?
Yes, customizing elements like backgrounds for pre-set custom art will incur an additional fee based on the complexity of the request. Please use the commission request form to inquire about customizations for a quote.
Do you offer discounts or promotions on custom artwork?
While I don't offer regular discounts for custom artwork due to the personalized nature of the work, I occasionally run special promotions. Make sure to subscribe to my newsletter or follow me on social media for any announcements.
